NCB's Demand for Majithia Case Documents Exposes BJP's Attempt to Shield Drug Lords: Aman Arora

Chandigarh(The Uttam Hindu): In a strong statement, AAP Punjab President Aman Arora condemned the BJP-led central government and Congress for their consistent efforts to shield Bikram Majithia and weaken the ongoing fight against drug mafias in Punjab.
Arora highlighted the recent development where the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) demanded all documents related to the new FIR filed against Majithia by the Punjab government and Punjab Police. “This demand by the NCB is not an act of due process but a deliberate ploy to assist Majithia and other drug traders in building their defense. This reveals the BJP’s true intent of protecting drug syndicates instead of eradicating them,” he said.
The AAP leader criticized Congress and BJP leaders for their hypocrisy, citing instances where Ravneet Bittu and Sunil Jakhar openly opposed the Punjab government’s actions against Majithia. “It is clear that Congress and BJP, instead of supporting Punjab’s fight against drugs, have repeatedly come to Majithia’s defense,” he remarked.
Arora further slammed the BJP for activating central agencies to undermine Punjab’s efforts. “Since 2014, the BJP has been aware of large-scale drug operations in Punjab, as revealed in statements like that of Jagdish Bhola in 2013-14. Yet, they chose to remain silent. Today, when our government takes decisive action backed by evidence, they are actively trying to weaken the case,” he said.
Criticizing Congress leader and leader of opposition Pratap Bajwa for his inconsistent statements, Arora remarked, “Their spinelessness has made Punjab’s Congress leaders incapable of holding any moral ground. Changing their stance every few days has exposed their opportunistic politics, shaming even chameleons.”
Arora stated, “Under the leadership of CM Bhagwant Mann and Arvind Kejriwal, we are committed to root out the drug menace from Punjab. No one, whether a political leader, officer or affiliate of drug syndicates, will be spared.”
He concluded by calling out the BJP and Congress for their betrayal of Punjab. “The BJP’s actions to shield their old allies, the Akalis, and their shared responsibility in spreading the ‘sixth river of drugs’ in Punjab, is a sin that cannot be overlooked. Punjab has suffered enough under their collective misgovernance,” he said, adding that the AAP government will continue its relentless fight against drugs, regardless of political interference.
