With a noble aim to disseminate authentic news to the masses, Uttam Hindu was started as a monthly newspaper by its Chief Editor Sh.Irwin Khanna in 1983. With the state of Punjab facing black days of terrorism,Sh.Khanna made sure that the newspaper reaches out to the masses with its nationalist approach. Six years of hard work brought desired results, when in 1989, Uttam Hindu was converted into an evening daily. Gauging the need for giving the readers an opportunity to taste the blend of the unbiased and factually correct news before they start their day, Uttam Hindu's morning edition was started on 1st August, 1991. Since its inception Uttam Hindu is known for its contribution to the society during the Punjab insurgency, when it stood strong for the freedom of expression and remained undeterred despite threats from the terrorists. The Delhi Edition of Uttam Hindu was started on 20th February, 2012. The newspaper progressed leaps and bounds and today Uttam Hindu is one of the oldest newspapers of Northern India, which is being published simultaneously from New Delhi and Jalandhar. It's a 12-page coloured newspaper with a daily circulation of 90,000 copies (Certified by GoI) having readership in Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, New Delhi-NCR Region,Uttarakhand,Uttar Pradesh & Jammu-Kashmir.
