AAP Government's 351 'Nasha Mukti Yatras' Across 117 Constituencies, More than 2 Lakh People Raise Their Voice Against Drugs

Chandigarh(The Uttam Hindu): Following the launch of the ‘Nasha Mukti Yatra’ by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal and Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, AAP’s ministers and MLAs in Punjab stepped up their efforts against drugs.

On Sunday, AAP ministers and MLAs conducted ‘Nasha Mukti Yatra’ across all 117 constituencies in Punjab to raise awareness against drugs. Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan and all cabinet ministers led the yatra in their constituencies along with constituency in-charges. The yatra witnessed the participation of local leaders, party workers, and a large number of people.

As part of the campaign, each minister and MLA covers three villages in their respective constituencies in a single day. They raise awareness among the public about the ill effects of drugs and appeal to them to support the Punjab government’s ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’ initiative and avail its benefits.

During the yatra, MLAs and ministers are urging village residents to collectively boycott drug peddlers and refrain from providing them any assistance, especially avoiding bailing them out in legal cases filed against them.


The campaign has garnered significant support from the common people, who are actively participating in the yatra and openly appreciating the government’s initiative. During the yatra, several panchayats declared their villages drug-free.Public meetings are also being held during the yatra, where MLAs and ministers administer oaths to villagers, including sarpanches, to neither consume drugs nor tolerate drug abuse in their areas. The initiative aims to ensure personal engagement in the campaign and cooperation in eradicating the drug menace from the grassroots level.

Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema conducted the ‘Nasha Mukti Yatra’ at various locations in his constituency, Dirba, and participated in several related programs.

Minister Kuldeep Dhaliwal carried out the yatra in Ajnala constituency and addressed gatherings at various locations. Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO led the campaign against drugs in the Jandiala constituency. Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan organized the yatra in his constituency, Kotkapura, while Deputy Speaker Jai Kishan Singh Rori did the same in Garhshankar.


Minister Mohinder Bhagat engaged with the public across different wards of Jalandhar West and raised awareness against drugs. Dr. Ravjot Singh led the campaign in his constituency, Sham Chaurasi; Tarunpreet Singh Sondh in Khanna; Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian in Sahnewal; Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak in Bhoa; and Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh in various villages of Patiala Rural constituency.

Additionally, Minister Harjot Singh Bains conducted the ‘Nasha Mukti Yatra’ in Anandpur Sahib alongside party workers and officials. Minister Barinder Goyal led the campaign in Lehra, Gurmeet Singh Khuddian in Lambi, Minister Baljit Kaur in Malout, and Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar organized anti-drug programs in his constituency, Patti.
