Bomb Threat to Udyog Bhawan in Delhi, Building Evacuated; Security Agencies on Alert

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Emails threatening to bomb Udyog Bhawan in Delhi have been received. Officials said that on Friday, the Secretary of the Ministry of Industry received an email threatening to blow up Udyog Bhawan. After this, the security system took immediate action.

This building located near the Central Secretariat was threatened to be blown up with an Improvised Explosive Device (IED). Due to this, security officials evacuated the premises. According to Delhi Fire Brigade, after receiving the information, a fire brigade team reached the spot. Police said that the threatening e-mail was sent to senior officials of the ministry headquartered in Udyog Bhawan. The e-mail allegedly mentioned the plan to target the building with an IED. Security agencies have started investigation and bomb disposal squads were immediately deployed to search the premises. The premises have been evacuated and the search operation is underway.
