BSF Jawan Purnam Kumar Shaw Returns After Inadvertent Border Crossing Into Pakistan
Amritsar (The Uttam Hindu): Border Security Force (BSF) jawan Purnam Kumar Shaw, who had accidentally crossed the international border into Pakistan, has been safely returned to India by the Pakistan Rangers. The handover took place at the Attari border following a ceasefire understanding between the two countries.
Shaw, who is posted with the 182nd Battalion of the BSF in Ferozepur, had gone missing on April 23. He was near gate number 208/1 of the border fence in the Mamdot sector when he reportedly fell ill and sat under a tree. During this time, he inadvertently crossed into Pakistani territory, where he was detained by the Pakistan Rangers, who also confiscated his weapon.
After coordination between Indian and Pakistani border forces, Shaw was handed back to Indian authorities at the Attari-Wagah border. The BSF has confirmed his safe return and expressed relief over the resolution of the incident.
