Former CM Atishi Detained While Visiting Landless Protest Camp

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Bulldozer action is being seen in many areas of Delhi these days. Recently, action was taken in Madrasi Camp and Kalkaji. Since then, the opposition has been attacking the government. Meanwhile, former Delhi Chief Minister Atishi reached the landless camp in Kalkaji today, where she was taken into custody. Atishi had gone to meet those people whose houses are being demolished.

On being detained, former CM Atishi said that these slums are being destroyed and I am being sent to jail because I am raising voice for the slum dwellers.

Let us tell you that Delhi Police detained Atishi during the protest. Former CM Atishi was protesting against the bulldozer operation on slums. Atishi had claimed that a large number of security personnel were deployed before the demolition of the landless camp in Kalkaji. The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) had pasted orders to vacate the houses located in the slum camp and an ultimatum was given to vacate the place within three days. Before the bulldozer action in the landless camp in Kalkaji, Atishi reached to meet the slum dwellers and met the local people.

It is worth noting that the court had recently rejected all the petitions related to the landless camp. After this it was decided that bulldozer action will be seen here in the coming days.
