Chief Minister kicks off Japan tour with floral tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Edogawa Gandhi Park

 Chandigarh (The Uttam Hindu) : On the first day of his Japan visit, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann today paid tribute to Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi at Edogawa Gandhi Park in Tokyo.


The Chief Minister said that Mahatma Gandhi was perhaps the only leader in the world who won the freedom struggle through the ideology of non-violence and peace. He said that all of us, especially the youth, should come forward to keep alive the humanitarian philosophy shown by the Father of the Nation by adopting the principles of non-violence, goodwill and peace. Bhagwant Singh Mann further said that the life, philosophy and sacrifice of Mahatma Gandhi will always serve as a beacon and inspire all of us to selflessly serve the society, state and country.


Appealing to the people to follow the path of peace and non-violence shown by Gandhiji, the Chief Minister said that this is essential for building an egalitarian society. He said that Gandhiji was a great statesman and a conscious personality. He traveled the world spreading his philosophy of love, peace, and non-violence. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the Father of the Nation played a crucial and historic role in liberating India by transforming the freedom struggle into a mass movement.


The Chief Minister said that the countrymen will always be indebted to this great personality for his immense contribution in building the India of today. He said that the entire world remembers Gandhiji's message of truth, peace, love, friendship and non-violence and strives to follow his principles. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that Mahatma Gandhi's ideas are of immense importance in today's world, therefore we all should follow in the footsteps of this great national leader.
