Delhi on High Alert Amid Indo-Pak Tensions; Leaves of Govt Staff Cancelled

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): As tensions between India and Pakistan escalate, the national capital Delhi has been placed on high alert. All government employees across departments have been barred from taking leave until further notice. District magistrates and police officials have held emergency preparedness reviews across multiple zones.

Visitors at India Gate were asked to vacate the area and traffic was regulated. While officials called it a “routine measure,” security has been visibly intensified. Deputy Commissioners across all 15 districts are personally monitoring law and order with ACPs and SHOs directed to remain on high alert. Security checks have been tightened across high-footfall areas such as metro stations, malls, markets, hotels, airports, and residential neighborhoods. At Mayur Vihar Phase-1 Metro Station, CISF teams were briefed and reinforced. The station remains under 24/7 surveillance through 41 CCTV cameras and 9 CISF personnel per shift.

Bomb Disposal Squads (BDS) in the Southwest District conducted anti-sabotage inspections at malls, hotels and other sensitive spots. At Delhi’s borders, vehicles entering the city are being subjected to strict screening. These measures follow a failed attempt by Pakistan’s military to target multiple Indian cities including Awantipora, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, Bhuj, and others. Indian forces thwarted the strike and retaliated by disabling a Pakistani air defense system in Lahore.

Police have stated they are fully prepared to handle any situation and maintain peace in the capital with round-the-clock vigilance.
