Diwali Delight: Sensex soars 300 points, investors pocket Rs 2.71 lakh crore in muhurat trading bonanza!

Mumbai (The Uttam Hindu): The stock market gave investors a bumper gift during the special "Muhurat Trading" held on the occasion of Diwali. Both the Sensex and Nifty opened in the green during this special one-hour trading session. The Sensex jumped 300 points upon opening, while the Nifty also saw a spectacular gain of nearly 90 points.

Due to this boom in the market, the wealth of investors increased by Rs 2.71 lakh crore in a few minutes.

According to experts, this market euphoria was fueled by falling crude oil prices, record shopping during the festive season, and expectations of strong quarterly corporate results. Positive signals from Asian and American markets also boosted investor enthusiasm.

The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) Sensex rose 302.07 points to 84,665.44 during the trading session. The Sensex opened at 84,484.67 points, while the previous close (Friday) was at 84,363.37.

On the other hand, the National Stock Exchange (NSE)'s main index Nifty also rose by about 90 points to reach a high of 25,934.35 points.

IT, banking, and auto stocks saw strong gains during Muhurat trading. According to BSE data, Infosys shares rose 1 percent, while Tata Motors, Axis Bank, Adani Ports, Mahindra & Mahindra, and HDFC Bank all gained more than 0.50 percent.

On the other hand, Maruti, Asian Paints, ICICI Bank, Bharti Airtel and Kotak Bank were trading marginally lower.

Investors reaped significant profits during this Muhurat trading session. According to the BSE's market cap, the BSE's market cap on Monday (Muhurat trading) was ₹4,69,68,698.89 crore, which increased to ₹4,72,39,721.35 crore during this special session. Consequently, investors gained ₹2,71,022.46 crore.
