Drishyam' plot unfolds: Pune husband kills wife, burns body in iron box; police unravels gripping tale
Pune (The Uttam Hindu) : A sensational incident has come to light in Pune, Maharashtra. Warje-Malwadi police have arrested 42-year-old Samar Punjabrao Jadhav for murdering his wife Anjali Samir Jadhav (38) and destroying evidence. According to police, the accused admitted to being influenced by the film "Drishyam" in planning the crime.
The couple had visited Mariai Ghat near Khed Shivapur on October 26th. On their way back, they stopped at a rented warehouse in Shindewadi, Gogalwadi Phata. While having lunch there, the accused allegedly strangled his wife to death. To destroy evidence, he burned the body in an iron box, threw the ashes in the river, and scratched the box to erase her identity.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police Sambhaji Kadam, the accused rented a warehouse for 18,000 rupees per month before the incident, had a custom-made iron box, and stored firewood. Two days later, the accused filed a missing person report at the Warje-Malwadi police station and continued to visit the station to appear normal. According to officials, the accused was having an affair with another woman and was plotting to "eliminate" his wife. He tried to cast doubt on her character by sending messages to her from his friend's mobile phone, in an attempt to derail the investigation.
The accused has been identified as Samar Punjabrao Jadhav, a resident of Swami Sankul Apartments near the Talathi office in Shivane, Pune. He holds an automobile diploma and runs a garage. The deceased, 38-year-old Anjali Sameer Jadhav, was a teacher at a private school. This horrific incident in Pune has caused a stir, with the man confessing to police that he plotted to murder his wife and destroy evidence after watching the film "Drishyam." The reason he gave for the murder is also shocking.
