Drunk father throws his 3-month-old son into a ditch before taking his own life
Pauri (The Uttam Hindu): A heart-wrenching incident has come to light from Pauri district of Uttarakhand, where a drunk labourer first killed his three-month-old innocent son by throwing him into a ditch and then committed suicide by jumping into it himself.
The horrific incident occurred on Tuesday in Daboli village in the Lansdowne area. According to officials, the deceased, Lalit, 30, was an alcoholic. On Tuesday evening, he had a heated argument with his wife, Kamala, over some issue.
According to police, after an argument, his wife, Kamala, left the house, saying she was returning to her village (her parents' home) with their three-month-old child. Hearing this, Lalit became enraged. He allegedly snatched the child from his wife's arms and threw him into a deep ditch on the side of the road.
After the incident, the couple frantically searched for their child, but could not find him. Desperate to find the child, Lalit also jumped into the same ditch, an official said.
Villagers pulled Lalit out of the ditch and rushed him to a primary health center, but doctors declared him dead on arrival. Prakash, the brother of the deceased's wife, Kamala, told an agency that Lalit and Kamala had a love marriage, but Lalit allegedly frequently assaulted Kamala under the influence of alcohol.
