Lucknow (The Uttam Hindu): A major and potentially fatal case of negligence by the health department has come to light at the Kakori Community Health Center (CHC) in Lucknow. Here, after a cesarean delivery, the staff administered expired glucose to a pregnant woman. Upon receiving the glucose, the woman's condition deteriorated rapidly, and foam began to ooze from her mouth. Upon seeing this, the family created a ruckus in the hospital. The pregnant woman was immediately referred to Queen Mary Hospital in critical condition.

According to reports, Kajol Srivastava, a resident of Kakori, was admitted to the hospital after a cesarean section on Saturday morning. The victim's brother-in-law, Neeraj Srivastava, said that Kajol's health suddenly deteriorated around 4 a.m. on Sunday. When the family noticed the glucose bottle, they were stunned. The expiry date was printed on it. The family panicked, and the hospital erupted in chaos.

The family alleges that the staff tried to improve Kajol's condition by administering injections to cover up the mistake, but Kajol's condition continued to deteriorate. Angered by the negligence, the family created a ruckus at the CHC and called the police (Dial 112).

Neeraj Srivastava also made a serious allegation that Kajol and three other patients were being administered the same expired glucose. He filmed the entire incident and filed a complaint on the Chief Minister's portal, demanding strict action against the guilty staff. Police arrived at the scene and brought the situation under control through persuasion.

Meanwhile, CHC in-charge Dr. KD Mishra has admitted to administering expired glucose to a pregnant woman. He has assured strict action in the matter. The CMO has also taken immediate cognizance of this serious negligence and formed a two-member investigation committee. The committee has recorded statements from the family members. The CMO has clarified that strict action will be taken against the negligent staff based on the investigation report.
