Chandigarh (The Uttam Hindu) : On one hand, farmers have announced a protest on May 6, while before this protest, many leaders including farmer leader Jagjit Dallewal were put under house arrest. The police team reached his house in Faridkot at 4 am on Monday. Dallewal himself came live on social media and gave information about this. At the same time, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has taken a strict stand on the daily protests, road blockages and rail roko movements in Punjab and has made it clear by giving a direct warning that now any protest, strike or dharna that troubles the common public will be considered as an "anti-people activity".

The Chief Minister tweeted that institutions, organizations, groups and unions should pay attention.. if you also want to protest, then there are many other ways to do it, it is not right to just harass people, otherwise be ready for strict legal action issued in the interest of the hardworking people of Punjab. Punjab Police has taken a big action against about 25 farmer leaders. Many of them have been put under house arrest, while some have also been detained. There is a lot of anger among the groups about this action taken a day before the farmers announced to sit on dharna by gheraoing Thana Shambhu in Patiala on Tuesday. Farmer groups have warned that if the Punjab Police continues to oppress the farmers in this manner at the behest of the government, then the entire Punjab will be jammed.
