Washington (The Uttam Hindu): New details continue to emerge about Shamsud-Din Jabbar, the attacker who drove a truck into a crowd on New Year’s Day in New Orleans, USA. President Joe Biden confirmed that Jabbar acted alone in carrying out the attack but had significant support from ISIS. On Wednesday morning, Jabbar drove his pickup truck into a busy Bourbon Street, killing at least 14 people and injuring 35 others.

The FBI is investigating the incident as a potential terrorist attack. Jabbar, 42, was killed in a shootout with local police. A former U.S. soldier, he was a resident of Houston and had traveled to New Orleans before the attack.

President Biden stated, "The FBI has informed me that there is no evidence so far of anyone else being involved. They have determined that Jabbar was the one who planted explosives in two ice coolers at nearby locations in the French Quarter just hours before driving into the crowd."
