Jhunjhunu (The Uttam Hindu): A horrifying tragedy has shaken Rajasthan’s Jhunjhunu district. In Ladusar village, a grandfather killed two young boys — his sister's grandsons — by throwing them into a well. After committing the brutal murders, he climbed a transformer in a nearby field and electrocuted himself by touching an 11,000-volt high-voltage line. The shocking incident occurred late Saturday night.

The children’s father, Kailash (34), told police that he is originally from Nand village and had been living next to his maternal uncle Ratiram (50) in Ladusar for the past four years. On Saturday evening, while Kailash was away, Ratiram came to his house and told Kailash’s wife he would take their sons — Ritik (8) and Rajiv (5) — to a wedding feast nearby and return soon.

Around 8 p.m., he left with the children, but did not return even by 11 p.m. Concerned, the family tried calling him, but he didn’t answer. After midnight, Ratiram finally called and claimed he was at Sikar station and that the kids were asleep. Suspicious, Kailash and another uncle, Pawan, rushed to the station but found no one there.

Around 4 a.m. on Sunday, villagers informed them that Ratiram had been found hanging from a transformer in a nearby field. When the family arrived, they found his dead body hanging and the bodies of both children lying in a nearby well.

SHO Ramnarayan Choyal said initial investigation suggests it was a case of murder followed by suicide. The bodies were sent to BDK Hospital for autopsy.

Police are investigating the motive, with early signs pointing to family tensions, personal grudges, or possible mental illness. Villagers mentioned Ratiram had recently appeared mentally disturbed, but also said he was very attached to the children and often played with them. The tragic event has left the entire village in shock and mourning.
