Stampede at Haridwar’s Mansa Devi Temple, 6 Dead and Several Injured; Triggered by Heavy Crowd

Haridwar(The Uttam Hindu): A tragic stampede at the famous Mansa Devi Temple in Haridwar, Uttarakhand, claimed the lives of six devotees and left several others injured on Sunday.

Garhwal Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey confirmed that the incident occurred when a high-voltage electric wire reportedly fell on the temple path, triggering panic among the heavy crowd of devotees. In the chaos, people started running, leading to a deadly stampede where several were crushed.

Police, SDRF, and local rescue teams rushed to the spot to carry out relief operations. The injured were immediately taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy and said, “The stampede at Haridwar Mansa Devi temple path is extremely painful. SDRF, police, and administration are at the site and monitoring the situation closely. I pray for the safety and well-being of all devotees.”
