Haryana's Surcharge Waiver Scheme 2025 Begins May 12: Here's What You Need to Know

Chandigarh (The Uttam Hindu): The Haryana government has announced the Surcharge Waiver Scheme 2025, which will come into effect from May 12. The scheme aims to provide relief to defaulting consumers who have outstanding electricity bills.

Benefits of the Scheme

1. Domestic Consumers: Eligible domestic consumers can pay the principal amount in one lump sum or in 8 monthly or 4 bi-monthly installments. The surcharge amount will be waived off in installments with regular payment of current bills.

2. Agricultural Consumers: Agricultural consumers can pay the principal amount in one lump sum or in 3 billing cycles. The surcharge amount will be waived off in installments with regular payment of current bills.

3. Government and Public Service Utilities: Government and public service utilities can pay the principal amount in one lump sum and get the surcharge waived off.

4. Industrial Consumers: Industrial consumers can get 50% of the surcharge amount waived off if they pay the principal amount and 50% of the surcharge amount in one lump sum.

Eligibility Criteria

The scheme is applicable to all defaulting consumers who had outstanding bills as of August 31, 2024, and are still defaulters. Consumers who have been disconnected can also benefit from the scheme, provided they pay the lump sum amount or the first installment of the principal amount.

Implementation

The Haryana government has directed all concerned officials to ensure careful implementation of the scheme. Consumers can appeal to the Executive Engineer if they are dissatisfied with any order or decision of the Sub-Divisional Office. The scheme will be valid for 6 months, until November 11, 2025.
