Heavy Firing by Pakistan on LoC, One Indian Soldier Martyred

Jammu/Srinagar (The Uttam Hindu): 15 people including a soldier were killed in shelling by Pakistan Army on the Line of Control (LoC) for the 14th consecutive day on Thursday. Apart from this, more than 40 have been injured. The Ministry of Defense (MoD) said in a statement, "On the night of 7-8 May 2025, Pakistan Army resorted to unprovoked firing of small arms and artillery along the LoC in the areas opposite Kupwara, Baramulla, Uri and Akhnoor in Jammu and Kashmir." The statement said, "The Indian Army also gave a befitting reply to this firing."


The Army's Nagrota-headquartered White Knight Corps wrote on the post, "The GoC and all ranks of White Knight Corps salute the supreme sacrifice of Lance Naik Dinesh Kumar of 5 Field Regiment who laid down his life in the shelling of Pakistan Army on 07 May 2025. We stand with all the victims of the targeted attack on innocent civilians in Poonch Sector."


The Jammu and Kashmir administration has started shifting people from sensitive areas of the LoC to safer places after tensions between the two countries reached a peak. A large number of injured civilians have been admitted to the district hospitals of Poonch and Baramulla and special arrangements have been made for those requiring specialised treatment at the Government Medical College Hospital in Jammu.


All schools, colleges and other educational institutions have been closed in Jammu, Poonch, Rajouri, Samba, Kathua, Baramulla, Kupwara and Gurez. Apart from this, the Air Force has taken control of Srinagar airport and all civilian flight operations have been suspended till May 10. Let us tell you that the Indian armed forces carried out missile attacks on nine terrorist bases in Pakistan on Wednesday.


According to a Ministry of Defence (MoD) statement, the Indian armed forces on Wednesday carried out precision missile strikes on nine terror installations in Pakistan and PoK. These include Sawai Nala Camp, Muzaffarabad (PoK); Muridke (Pakistan); Sarjal Camp, Sialkot (Pakistan); Markaz Ahle Hadith, Barnala (PoK); Markaz Abbas, Kotli (PoK); Mehmoona Zoya Camp, Sialkot (Pakistan); Markaz Subhanallah, Bahawalpur (Pakistan); Syedna Bilal Camp, Muzaffarabad (PoK); and Maskar Raheel Shaheed Gulpur Camp, Kotli (PoK). India has categorically stated that no Pakistani military installations were targeted in the attacks carried out by the Indian armed forces on Wednesday.
