India Gears Up for Strong Posturing, Rajnath Singh to Visit Bhuj and Forward Areas

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Defense Minister Rajnath Singh will arrive in Gujarat on a two-day visit on Friday. He will also visit Bhuj Airbase. The Defense Minister will also visit the India-Pakistan border area. Rajnath Singh is expected to evaluate the preparedness of the Indian armed forces in the region and check the effectiveness of the strengthened security measures after Pakistan's failed drone intrusion.

Amid the military tension, the Pakistani army had attempted to target India's Bhuj using drones. However, India's security forces successfully thwarted Pakistan's repeated attacks with the help of air defense systems. Eventually, after facing continuous military setbacks and not getting any success, Pakistan declared a ceasefire.

Bhuj Rudra Mata Air Force Station is the main airbase of the Indian Air Force located in Bhuj. The station shares a runway with the civilian Bhuj Airport and functions under the South Western Air Command (SWAC). Bhuj Air Force Station, which houses the 27th Wing, is an important base for air defence and surveillance due to its proximity to the India-Pakistan border.

Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Adampur Airbase in Punjab on Tuesday morning. During his visit to Adampur Airbase, the Prime Minister was briefed by Air Force officials and interacted with the personnel involved in the operation. Adampur Airbase comes under the Western Air Command of the Indian Air Force.

Many military operations including 'Operation Sindoor' were conducted by the Western Air Command. Western Air Command Chief Air Marshal Jitendra Chaudhary was monitoring the mission in coordination with the Air Force Chief. The Western Air Command is one of the most important operational commands of the Indian Air Force, covering a vast and strategic area from Jammu and Kashmir to Rajasthan including Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and Western Uttar Pradesh.

The region includes some of the most sensitive borders and forward airbases, making it the epicentre of any aerial military action involving Pakistan.

Rajnath Singh had recently reviewed the security situation along India's western border. The border areas of Rajasthan and Gujarat adjoining Pakistan are part of the western border.

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Army and Navy chiefs and senior officials attended the security review meeting focused on the security of the country's borders. According to the Defence Ministry, the security situation on the western borders was discussed in the meeting held in New Delhi on Tuesday. A detailed briefing was given about the Line of Control (LoC) and the international border with Pakistan in the meeting chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.
