Indian Government Cracks Down: Bans X Accounts of 'Balochistan Times' and 'Balochistan Post'
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Amid growing tensions between India and Pakistan, the Indian government has taken another tough step and banned the social media platform x handle of two news portals Balochistan Times and Balochistan Post in India. This action is part of India's aggressive stance against Pakistan after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir.
As part of its crackdown on social media, India had earlier blocked the accounts of Pakistan Peoples Party President Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, former Prime Minister Imran Khan and Pakistani Defense Minister Khawaja Asif in India. Khawaja Asif was in the news for making provocative statements against India and threatening a nuclear attack.
Earlier, India has also banned several major Pakistani YouTube channels, such as Dawn News, ARY News, Bol News, Geo News, Samaa Sports, Irshad Bhatti, GNN, and cricketer Shoaib Akhtar's channel.
These actions of the Modi government at the Center are part of the steps taken to strengthen India's security and sovereignty. The government says that terrorist activities and anti-India propaganda operated from Pakistan are a threat to the unity and integrity of the country. Platforms like Balochistan Times and Balochistan Post are accused of promoting anti-India content, due to which they were banned.
After the Pahalgam attack, India-Pakistan relations have become strained. India has also adopted a strategy of cornering Pakistan on the issue of terrorism on international forums. These actions of India give a clear message to Pakistan that terrorism and anti-India activities will not be tolerated.
26 people lost their lives in the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on 22 April. The responsibility for this attack was taken by 'The Resistance Force' (TRF), associated with the banned Pakistani terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba (LET), although later it denied its involvement. After this attack, India has taken many tough steps against Pakistan at the diplomatic and strategic level. These include suspending the 1960 Indus Water Treaty, closing the Attari Integrated Check Post and suspending visa services for Pakistani citizens.
