Nepal unrest sparks high alert in Uttar Pradesh; borders sealed, special control room set up for stranded Indians
Lucknow (The Uttam Hindu): The ongoing internal conflict and violent unrest in neighboring Nepal has now raised security concerns in Uttar Pradesh. The Yogi Adityanath government has gone on full alert mode, immediately sealing the state’s borders with Nepal. Authorities have also stepped up strict monitoring of social media posts related to Nepal, with a special police team formed to take swift action against any provocative or sensitive content.
Considering the tense situation in Nepal, DGP Rajeev Krishna has directed police in all border districts of Uttar Pradesh to remain on high alert. A special control room has also been established to ensure the safety and assistance of Indian citizens stranded in Nepal. This crucial responsibility will be supervised by ADG (Law & Order) Amitabh Yash.
ADG Amitabh Yash confirmed that additional police forces have been deployed in all border districts to strengthen security. Patrolling and surveillance have been intensified to prevent any untoward incidents or emergencies. The control room at DGP headquarters will operate three helpline numbers and one WhatsApp number round the clock, enabling people to seek immediate assistance.
Meanwhile, the police headquarters’ social media cell has been instructed to closely monitor all content related to the Nepal crisis. Any misleading, inflammatory, or sensitive posts will be dealt with strict legal action without delay.
