New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu) : The Reserve Bank of India on Monday asked banks to ensure that ATMs also dispense Rs 100 and Rs 200 notes so that people do not face any problem in small transactions. Whenever people go to withdraw cash from ATM, it mostly happens that they withdraw only 500 rupee notes. After withdrawing 500 rupee notes, people often have to wander around for change. But now to reduce the difficulties of people, Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Monday asked banks to ensure that 100 rupee and 200 rupee notes are also withdrawn from ATMs.

People should not face any problem in small transactions- RBI

The central bank said that this is necessary to increase the availability of these notes to the public. Banks and White Label ATM Operators (WLAO) will have to implement this instruction in a phased manner. ATMs operated by non-banking institutions are called 'White Label ATMs' (WLA). The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) said in a circular, "In order to increase public access to frequently used denomination banknotes, it has been decided that all banks and White Label ATM Operators (WLAOs) will ensure that their ATMs dispense Rs 100 and Rs 200 notes on a regular basis."

There is a high demand for 100-200 notes

According to the circular, by September 30, 2025, 75 percent of ATMs (Automated Teller Machines) should dispense bank notes of Rs 100 or Rs 200 denomination from at least one cassette. After this, by March 31, 2026, 90 percent of ATMs should dispense bank notes of Rs 100 or Rs 200 denomination from at least one cassette. RBI has asked banks to increase the availability of 100 and 200 rupee notes in ATMs. This order will have to be implemented systematically by both banks and White Label ATM Operators (WLAO). After this order, there is panic among the banks and officials of the country. After this order, banks will have to work harder in ATMs to get 100 and 200 rupee notes.
