NIA Arrests Wanted Khalistani Terrorist Kashmir Galwaddi From Bihar
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): In a significant development, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested Kashmir Singh Galwaddi, a prominent Khalistani operative and one of the escapees from the 2016 Nabha jail break, in Motihari, Bihar. The arrest was made in collaboration with local police forces.
Kashmir Singh, a resident of Galwadi village in Khanna, Punjab, had been evading capture since the high-profile jailbreak. He is closely associated with Harwinder Singh Sandhu alias Rinda, a foreign-based terrorist linked to the Babbar Khalsa International (BKI). Singh played a central role in Rinda’s Nepal-based terror network, providing shelter, logistical support, and financial assistance to Khalistani operatives.
The NIA's investigation, initiated suo motu in August 2022, aims to dismantle the growing nexus between proscribed Khalistani groups and organized crime syndicates. The probe has uncovered how outfits like BKI, Khalistan Liberation Force (KLF), and International Sikh Youth Federation (ISYF) have been involved in smuggling arms, explosives, and IEDs across the border to carry out attacks within India.
Singh's involvement in aiding terrorists who fled to Nepal after executing attacks in India, including the rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) attack on the Punjab Police Intelligence Headquarters, has been highlighted in the investigation. His arrest is seen as a major success in the NIA's efforts to crack down on Khalistani terror outfits and their international support networks.
Further investigation is underway to trace additional links and operatives within the nexus, with the aim of significantly hampering the operational capabilities of Khalistani terror groups active across the Indo-Nepal region.
