NIA Cracks Down on Terror Network Ahead of PM Modi’s Visit to Jammu and Kashmir
Srinagar (The Uttam Hindu): Just a day ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Jammu and Kashmir, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) launched significant anti-terror raids across various districts in the Union Territory. These operations were part of an ongoing investigation into a terror conspiracy.
As per official sources, NIA teams targeted multiple locations in Pulwama, Kulgam, Shopian, Baramulla, and Kupwara. The focus was on individuals and networks associated with terrorists and their support systems. While no arrests or formal detentions occurred during these raids, authorities did seize five laptops, around 18 mobile phones, various digital devices, and financial documents.
The locations searched included the homes of a teacher, a female student, and several businessmen. The agency uncovered evidence linking these individuals to Pakistani handlers and terror connections in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir. Previously, the State Investigation Agency (SIA) had also conducted raids at 18 sites across four districts in the Jammu region. These coordinated efforts by the NIA and SIA are part of a larger initiative to dismantle the terror infrastructure, overground networks, and sleeper cells.
