Ahead of Elections, Nitish Kumar Makes an Unexpected Move – What Is Bihar’s New Commission All About?
Bihar(The Uttam Hindu): Ahead of the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has announced the formation of the Bihar State Safai Karamchari Commission. This commission will work towards protecting the rights, welfare, rehabilitation, and social upliftment of sanitation workers, while also addressing their grievances and monitoring welfare schemes.
Sharing the news on social media, Nitish Kumar wrote, “I am pleased to announce the formation of the Bihar State Safai Karamchari Commission to safeguard the interests and improve the living standards of sanitation workers.”
The commission will have a chairperson, a vice-chairperson, and five members, including at least one woman or transgender representative. It will provide policy suggestions to the government for the benefit of sanitation workers and ensure effective implementation of welfare schemes. Calling it a historic step, the Chief Minister said the move would enhance the dignity of sanitation workers and secure their better future through social inclusion and development.
