Pakistan Army Faces Havoc in Balochistan as Rebels Capture Multiple Posts
Islamabad (The Uttam Hindu): Amid the ongoing tension with India, Pakistan is now facing severe challenges at home. Insurgent organizations in Balochistan province have opened a front against Pakistani security forces, which has increased the difficulties of the Pakistani army. According to the latest reports, the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed to have captured several posts of the Pakistani army in Quetta, the capital of Balochistan.
The BLA says that it has forced the Pakistani army to retreat and the army has lost control over many parts of the city. Apart from this, the BLA has also claimed to have blown up a gas pipeline.
There have been reports of explosions and firing near major military installations, including the Frontier Corps headquarters in the capital Quetta. These attacks by the BLA in Balochistan have created a crisis for Pakistan on multiple fronts.
While separatists are active in Balochistan, Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) is also continuously attacking the Pakistani army in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province. Many Pakistani soldiers have been killed in TTP attacks in the last few days. Apart from this, recently Indian security forces also retaliated against terrorist bases in Pakistan.
These attacks on the Pakistani army in Balochistan have come at a time when on Thursday night Pakistan had made a failed attempt to target military bases in many cities of India including Jammu, Pathankot, Udhampur with missiles and drones. The Indian Army foiled this audacity of Pakistan and retaliated and targeted many cities of Pakistan including Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi.
It is worth noting that this attack on the Pakistani army in Balochistan has happened a day after a major attack in Bolan area. On Wednesday, BLA had targeted a patrol team of the Pakistani army. The BLA's special operation squad had blown up the army vehicle through a remote-controlled improvised explosive device (IED) explosion. 12 Pakistani soldiers were killed in this attack. Hakkal, a media group associated with BLA, had also released a video of this attack.
