Pakistan Falls to India's Feet: Urges Restoration of Indus Water Treaty
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): After the Pahalgam terrorist attack, India has suspended the Indus Water Treaty. This decision of India has taken Pakistan's sleep away. Now Pakistan has again appealed to India to restore the Indus Water Treaty.
Pakistan's Water Resources Ministry has written a letter to India's Jal Shakti Ministry and appealed to reconsider the decision to suspend the Indus Water Treaty. According to sources, Pakistan has said in this letter that India's move can create a serious water crisis in the neighboring country. After the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir on 22 April last month, India took strict action against the neighboring country and suspended the Indus Water Treaty of 1960. The government has decided to suspend this treaty until Pakistan stops supporting terrorism. On Tuesday also, the Foreign Ministry had said in clear words that India will not restore the Indus Water Treaty until Pakistan stops supporting terrorism.
Pakistan's Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has also threatened India that if the water dispute between India and Pakistan is not resolved, this ceasefire will not last long. Pakistan has also sent the same letter to India's Foreign Ministry, but India has clearly refused to consider the appeal of the neighboring country. Let us tell you that two days ago, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had clearly said in his address to the country that blood and water cannot flow together. The PM had also said that terror and talk cannot go together, terror and trade cannot go together.
