Pakistan Upset Over End of Indus Water Treaty, Writes to India Urging Reconsideration
Islamabad (The Uttam Hindu): Pakistan is very upset with the cancellation of Indus Water Treaty after the Pahalgam terrorist attack. Pakistan has appealed to India to reconsider its decision regarding the Indus Water Treaty. Pakistan has requested India for help in view of the future crisis. Pakistan's Water Resources Ministry has also written a letter in this regard to India's Jal Shakti Ministry. He said that this decision will create a crisis in Pakistan.
Pakistan's Sama TV reported that Water Resources Secretary Syed Ali Murtaza wrote a letter to India's Water Resources Secretary on Wednesday saying that nowhere in the Indus Water Treaty is there support for suspending it.
Water Resources Ministry officials said that the language used by India to justify the suspension is not found anywhere in the treaty.
Pakistan said that the Indus Water Treaty is valid in its original form and there is no provision for unilateral change or suspension in it. According to sources, this letter written by Pakistan has been sent to the Ministry of External Affairs as per the rules. They have appealed to India to reconsider the decision.
Earlier, PM Modi had said in his address to the nation that blood and water cannot flow together. It is being told that India is now planning to use the water of all three rivers for itself. Work on this has been started immediately. Apart from this, mid-term and long-term plans are also being finalized.
