Pakistani Misconduct at Attari: Immigration Gate Shut for 2 Hours

Update: 2025-04-30 09:07 GMT

Amritsar (The Uttam Hindu): The effect of the strict action taken by the Indian government after the horrific terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, is now visible on the Attari border of India-Pakistan. Pakistani citizens returning to Pakistan after India canceled their visas had to face trouble today due to the 'mischief' of Pakistani authorities at the Attari border. Due to the late opening of the Pakistani immigration gate, long queues of vehicles were formed at the Indian border.

In fact, after the death of 26 Indians in the Pahalgam terrorist attack, the Indian government took a tough stand and cancelled the visas of a large number of Pakistani citizens. All these Pakistani citizens were instructed to leave India and return to their country by April 29. In this sequence, these citizens were returning to Pakistan via the Attari-Wagah border.

But today an unexpected situation arose at the Attari border when the immigration gates were not opened on time from the Pakistani side. According to the information, the Pakistani authorities deliberately delayed opening the gates and the gates were opened only at around 12 noon, with a delay of about 2 hours.

Due to this delay, long queues of vehicles and passengers headed towards Pakistan formed inside the Indian border, towards the Attari checkpost. The bus carrying Pakistani citizens brought by the Jammu and Kashmir Police also entered the Indian barricade, but could not proceed further as the Pakistani gate was closed. People had to wait for hours in the scorching heat and sun.

Indian officials have termed this delay as a deliberate action on the part of Pakistani authorities, which may be aimed at harassing the Pakistani nationals returning after visa cancellation and the Indian side.
