High-Speed Tanker Rams Auto, Kills 8, Injures 4 on Way to Ganga Bath
Patna (The Uttam Hindu): A tragic road accident claimed eight lives and left four critically injured in Bihar’s capital, Patna, on Saturday morning. The incident occurred in Shahjahanpur police station area when a speeding truck collided head-on with an auto-rickshaw carrying passengers. The impact was so severe that the auto was completely mangled, scattering bodies on the road and creating a scene of horror.
According to reports, the passengers were residents of Malawa village in Hilsa, Nalanda district, and were on their way for a ritual Ganga bath. Most of the deceased were women.
Eyewitnesses said the truck, reportedly a tanker moving at high speed, lost control before crashing into the auto. The sheer force of the collision caused instant fatalities, with cries of panic echoing across the spot.
Police from Shahjahanpur station rushed to the site, recovered the bodies, and sent them for postmortem. The four injured passengers were shifted to a nearby hospital in critical condition. Rural SP Vikram Singh confirmed the death toll, stating, “Eight people have lost their lives, while four are under treatment. The victims belong to Nalanda district.” The accident has cast a shadow of grief over the entire village, as families mourn the sudden loss of loved ones who had set out for a religious bath but never returned.
