Punjab Not for Sale: BJP Slams AAP Over Ludhiana Land Grab, Vows Ground-Level Revolt

Chandigarh (The Uttam Hindu): In a fiery press conference held today, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Punjab General Secretary Parminder Singh Brar launched a no-holds-barred attack on the Bhagwant Mann-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, accusing it of orchestrating a massive land grab operation disguised as development. Brar warned that the government’s move to acquire over 24,000 acres of fertile agricultural land near Ludhiana threatens the livelihood of more than 20,000 farming families, many of whom have been cultivating this land for generations.

Calling the move a direct assault on Punjab’s backbone—the farmer—Brar declared, “This is not just a land grab. This is livelihood theft. If this goes forward, it will be the last nail in the coffin of AAP’s failed government in Punjab.” He accused the Mann government of pushing a backdoor deal to benefit private corporations and real estate giants under the false pretense of progress and development.

Brar was unequivocal in his criticism of AAP’s leadership, alleging that the party, which once promised change, has betrayed Punjab by handing the reins of power to Delhi-based politicians with no regard for local interests. “They are selling Punjab’s soul. This is not development; it is destruction masked in propaganda. What happens to the people whose land, homes, and future are being destroyed?” he asked.

The BJP leader also pointed to the recent vigilance raid and arrest of AAP MLA Raman Arora as a deliberate attempt by the government to divert attention from the escalating outrage over the Ludhiana land acquisition. He called the move a “cheap distraction tactic” that will not silence public anger or bury the truth.

Brar ended his address with a clear warning to the government: if the land acquisition plan is not rolled back immediately, the BJP will take to the streets alongside the people of Punjab. “We will stand shoulder-to-shoulder with every affected family across the 30+ villages targeted in this land grab. We will launch a movement against this tyranny. Let this be known—Punjab is not for sale. Punjab is for Punjabis.”

With tensions mounting and the political battle lines drawn, Punjab now braces for what could become a major statewide showdown between the ruling AAP and an increasingly aggressive BJP-led opposition.
