Rajasthan Cremation Ruckus: Son Lays Down on Pyre for Jewellery, VIDEO Goes Viral
Behror (The Uttam Hindu): A shocking incident unfolded in Leela Ka Bas ki Dhani village, Rajasthan, where a man created a ruckus and disrupted his own mother's cremation over possession of her silver bangles and other jewellery items. The incident occurred on May 3, and a video of the event surfaced online, showing the man lying on the funeral pyre and demanding that the ornaments be handed over to him.
Background of the Dispute
The dispute arose between Omprakash and his brothers over the possession of their mother's jewellery, which had been a point of contention for years due to an ongoing property dispute. As per tradition, the jewellery was removed from the deceased's body and handed over to the eldest son, Girdhari, before the cremation.
Confrontation at the Cremation Ground
However, Omprakash protested and lay down on the funeral pyre, refusing to let the cremation proceed unless the silver bangles and other ornaments were given to him. Despite repeated efforts by villagers and family members to pacify him, Omprakash refused to relent, causing a commotion that lasted for nearly two hours.
Resolution and Aftermath
Eventually, the jewellery was brought to the cremation ground and handed over to Omprakash, allowing the last rites to proceed. The incident has raised concerns about the importance of resolving family disputes and the impact of greed on traditional and emotional events like funerals.
