Religious Zone Declared: Ram Path in Ayodhya to Be Free of Liquor, Meat and Tobacco Ads
Ayodhya (The Uttam Hindu): Ayodhya Municipal Corporation has passed a proposal to ban the sale of liquor and meat in the 14 kilometer area of Rampath. Apart from this, advertisements of paan, gutkha, beedi, cigarette and innerwear will also not be able to be put up in this area. Ram Path is the main route connecting Ayodhya and Faizabad, which starts from the banks of Saryu. About 5 kilometers of it falls in Faizabad city. At present, many liquor and meat shops are running in this area, which will be closed.
Liquor and meat will not be sold in the 14km area of Ram Path in Ayodhya, advertisements of paan-gutkha and cigarettes will also be banned: The Municipal Corporation has passed this proposal with the aim of maintaining religious sentiments. The executive committee includes Mayor Girishpati Tripathi, Deputy Mayor and 12 councilors. Sultan Ansari, the only Muslim councilor of the committee, is also from BJP and he also supported this proposal.
Mayor Tripathi formally announced this decision on Thursday. He said that a detailed plan and timeline for the implementation of this proposal will be released soon. With the implementation of this decision, the area around the Ram temple and some parts of Faizabad will come under the purview of this religious decorum. There is already a partial ban on the sale of meat and alcohol in Ayodhya, but now this ban will be formally implemented on the entire Ram Path.
