Kerala High Court Rules Toilets at Petrol Pumps Not for Public Use
Thiruvanantpuram (The Uttam Hindu): The Kerala high court has given a ruling where it stated that the toilets on the petrol pump are not for public use. Petroleum traders and pump owners had filed a petition in which they objected to the state government and local bodies who considered these toilets as public facilities and the verdict came after that.
The petitioners argued that the toilets are only for the emergency needs of customers and should not be open to the general public. The court agreed with their arguments and directed the state government and Thiruvananthapuram Municipal Corporation not to force petrol pump owners to allow public use of their toilets.
This ruling provides relief to petrol pump owners but raises concerns about the availability of public toilets. The court has scheduled the next hearing for July 17.
