UP Govt Announces 3-Year Validity for PET Scores, Eases Job Hunt for Youth
Lucknow (The Uttam Hindu): The Uttar Pradesh government has announced a significant change in the rules for applying for Group C government jobs. Candidates who pass the Preliminary Eligibility Test (PET) will now be eligible to apply for various recruitments for three years, instead of one year. The new system will be applicable from the PET to be held in 2025 or thereafter. This means that the PET score of all candidates appearing in PET in 2025 or thereafter will be valid for three years.
Benefits for Youth
This decision will benefit lakhs of youth preparing for government jobs in several ways:
1. No need to give PET every year
2. Opportunity to apply for any Group C recruitment for three years after passing PET once
3. Savings in time, effort and money
4. Chance to participate in more competitive examinations
The Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC) had been suggesting that the validity of PET should be made three years instead of one year. The commission's proposal was accepted by the Personnel Department, which has now officially approved the change.
Two-Tier Examination System
The recruitment process for Group C jobs under UPSSSC involves a two-tier examination system:
Preliminary Eligibility Test (PET) as the first screening test
Mains Exam or Other Selection Process for eligible candidates
With this change, the commission will be able to select eligible candidates based on the PET merit list, and they will get a chance to participate in any recruitment for three years.
