Washington/New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): After India's strong response during 'Operation Sindoor', an American intelligence report has revealed important things about India and Pakistan. According to this intelligence report of the Defense Intelligence Agency, India considers China as its main strategic rival, while it sees Pakistan as a security problem that needs to be controlled.

The report also said that China is constantly trying to increase its influence in Asia by making economic and military investments in other neighboring countries including Pakistan. According to the US report, cross-border clashes with regional neighbors will be among the top priorities of the Pakistani army in the coming years. Border tensions with India, terrorism-related activities and aggressive rhetoric on Kashmir are part of Pakistan's policy. India has already expressed concern over Pakistan-sponsored terrorism and ceasefire violations on the Line of Control (LoC) at several international forums.

The intelligence report also mentions Pakistan's modernisation of its nuclear weapons amid growing attacks by Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan and Baloch nationalist militants. Last year, militants killed more than 2,500 people in Pakistan.

According to the report, Pakistan considers India a threat to its existence and will continue its efforts to develop and modernise its nuclear weapons to counter India's conventional military capabilities. Pakistan is working on modernising its nuclear arsenal and strengthening the security of its nuclear arsenal and nuclear command.

Pakistan is supported by China against India and benefits mainly from Chinese economic and military investments. The Pakistani Army conducts several joint military exercises with the Chinese PLA each year, including a new air wargame scheduled to end in November 2024. Foreign equipment and technology supporting Pakistan's weapons of mass destruction (WMD) program comes primarily from Chinese suppliers, and sometimes from Hong Kong, Singapore, Turkey, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
