Wedding Turns Tragic: 5 Dead, 6 Injured as Car Falls into Ditch

Hardoi (The Uttam Hindu): A tragic road accident took place in Hardoi, Uttar Pradesh on Saturday, where a car carrying wedding guests plunged into a ditch. The horrific incident claimed the lives of five people, including a child, while six others were injured.

The incident occurred in Kusuma village under the Majhila police station area of Hardoi district. According to reports, the groom Neeraj, son of Ram Sevak, a resident of Patiya Neem in the Pali police station area, was returning with his wedding procession from Kusuma village. After the wedding ceremony, while returning, one of the cars went out of control near Kusuma village and fell into a ditch.

The impact of the accident was so severe that five people, including a child, died on the spot, and six others were seriously injured. Upon receiving information, police arrived at the scene and, with the help of locals, rushed the injured to the Shahabad Community Health Center. Given their critical condition, six of the injured were referred to a higher medical center.

Circle Officer (CO) of Shahabad, Anuj Mishra, stated: “During the night of May 30–31, 2025, the wedding procession of Neeraj from Mahula Patiyan in the Pali police area was returning from Kusuma village when their car lost control and crashed. Five people were declared dead by doctors, and the rest are under treatment.”

An eyewitness said, “We had gone to a wedding, and while returning from Kusuma, the accident happened. About 10 people were in the car when it suddenly lost control and fell into the ditch.”

EMO of CHC Dr. Zeeshan Khan said that 13 people were brought in via ambulance. Out of these, 5 were declared dead, and 8 are critically injured. The accident has cast a shadow of grief over the village and the family. A moment of wedding joy turned into mourning. Police have taken custody of the bodies and sent them for postmortem, and further action is underway.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken cognizance of the accident, expressed condolences to the bereaved families, and wished the injured a speedy recovery. He has instructed the district administration to ensure the injured receive proper medical treatment immediately.
