Corona Creates Panic Again: WHO Issues Advisory Amid Global Surge in COVID-19 Cases
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): COVID cases are increasing again all over the world which has created panic among the people. Many states have reported cases increasing at an alarming rate. WHO has issued advisory regarding the same and expressed concern over the new cases.
Giving information, WHO said that many new variants of Corona are emerging. These include variants like NB.1.8.1, JN.1 and KP.2, which are a sub variant of Omicron. The NB.1.8.1 variant is currently spreading rapidly in China, America and some European countries. At the same time, cases of both sub-variants of Corona NB.1.8.1 and LF.7 have increased rapidly in many countries including India. Due to this, a rapid increase in infection has been recorded in India. In view of the increasing risks, the World Health Organization (WHO) has now placed NB.1.8.1 in the category of Variant of Monitoring, till now it was kept as Variant of Interest, but the World Health Organization has kept it in Variant of Monitoring in view of the changing form of the variants. That is, now this form of the virus needs to be given attention on priority basis.
According to the World Health Organization, this variant infects people very quickly, but at present it does not cause serious illness or hospitalization. Even if the situation worsens, very few patients are admitted to the hospital. Still, experts believe that it should not be ignored, because it cannot be said when the virus will change its form.
WHO has instructed to remain alert
WHO has asked all the countries to strengthen their surveillance system more than before. Testing, reporting and genome sequencing should be increased so that new variants can be detected on time. Also, people have been advised to remain alert. WHO says that people should avoid going to crowded areas. If it is necessary to go, then go to these places wearing a mask so that you can avoid the infected person or you do not infect anyone. Keep cleaning hands regularly. Whenever you come home from outside or are at home, keep cleaning your hands. Get tested if mild symptoms appear and isolate yourself if needed. People who have weak immunity can take a booster dose of the vaccine.
