Amidst the investigation of the loan fraud case of 17,000 crores, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has now intensified the investigation into the fake bank guarantee case of 68 crores. In this connection, the ED raided several places in Odisha and Kolkata on Friday.

After ED summons, action also taken against Anil Ambani in fake bank guarantee case, raids in Odisha-Bengal : The ED took this action under the ECIR registered on the basis of a case registered by the Economic Offenses Wing of Delhi Police on November 11, 2024. The agency alleges that Anil Ambani's companies were given contracts on the basis of a fake bank guarantee. Odisha-based M/s Biswal Tradelink Private Limited and its directors are accused of issuing fake bank guarantees and making deals at 8% commission. The ED has detected several undeclared bank accounts and suspicious transactions worth crores of rupees during searches at the premises of this firm and its associates.

The ED has revealed that this fake bank guarantee of Rs 68.2 crore was issued in the name of Reliance NU Base Limited and Maharashtra Energy Generation Limited, both linked to the Anil Ambani Group. It is alleged that to make this guarantee look valid, a fake email domain “s-bi.co.in” was used while contacting SECI, making it look like SBI’s official domain “sbi.co.in”.

The agency has also sought registration details of this domain from the National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI). The investigation also revealed that the concerned companies exist only on paper and no legal activity was found at their addresses.

Apart from this, conversations using the 'Disappearing Message' feature on the Telegram app have also surfaced, which allegedly points to an attempt to erase evidence. It is worth noting that earlier the ED has also issued a summons to Anil Ambani to appear at the Delhi office for questioning on August 5.
