Elon Musk's big statement on building a city on the moon, learn the detailed plan
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu) : Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk said on Monday that he aims to build a self-sustaining city on the Moon in less than 10 years. Following this, he plans to have a human presence on Mars in about 20 years. According to the world's richest man, Elon Musk, SpaceX has already focused on building a self-sustaining city on the Moon because it is possible in less than 10 years, while building a city on Mars would take 20 years or more.
Posting on his social media platform, SpaceX, Musk said that SpaceX's mission remains the same: to spread consciousness and life as we know it to the stars. Musk added in the post that a trip to Mars is only possible when the planets align every 26 months, and it takes about six months to get there. Meanwhile, we can launch to the Moon every 10 days, and it takes just two days to get there. This means we can build a city on the Moon much faster than we can build a city on Mars.
Musk also said that SpaceX will begin efforts to build a city on Mars in 5 to 7 years, but the biggest priority right now is securing the future of civilization, and the Moon could help in this more quickly. Last September, Musk said that the first uncrewed Starship mission will be sent to Mars in the next two years, when the time is right for travel between Earth and Mars. Starship is the world's most powerful rocket, which will be used to send humans first to the Moon and later to Mars.
Musk said that Starships will initially be sent to Mars without humans to test a safe landing. If this mission is successful, humans will be sent to Mars within four years. He said that the number of missions will increase rapidly after this, with the goal of building a self-sustaining city on Mars within about 20 years.
