Delhi Gets a Taste of ‘Tshan’ as Tesla Opens Second Indian Showroom
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Elon Musk-led electric carmaker Tesla is all set to enter the national capital on Monday with the opening of its second showroom in India. The American automaker is set to inaugurate its showroom at the upscale Worldmark 3 complex in the national capital's Aerocity at 2 pm.
The showroom will serve customers in NCR, which is a major hub for promoting electric mobility in India. In a post on social media platform Tesla India posted a graphic depicting the company's arrival and wrote, "Coming to Delhi - stay connected with us". In another post, the company shared the inauguration time and location of its showroom.
Earlier, the company inaugurated Tesla's first Indian showroom at Bandra Kurla Complex in Mumbai on July 15. The high-profile launch held in Mumbai was also attended by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who praised Tesla's entry into the state and invited the company to set up research and development and manufacturing units.
The Model Y electric SUV is currently available in two configurations in Tesla's Indian portfolio. The standard rear-wheel drive (RWD) version is priced at Rs 59.89 lakh (ex-showroom), while the long range RWD version is available at Rs 67.89 lakh (ex-showroom). Deliveries of both cars are expected to begin in the third quarter of 2025.
The standard rear-wheel drive (RWD) comes with a 60 kWh battery that offers a WLTP certified range of 500 km. The long range RWD version comes with a 75 kWh battery that offers a WLTP certified range of 622 km.
According to the company, delivery will be prioritised for buyers in Mumbai, Pune, Delhi and Gurugram, where vehicles will be delivered directly to customers' homes on flat-bed trucks. The company has also updated its website to facilitate vehicle registration in all states and union territories. Tesla has listed its full self-driving (FSD) feature as an optional extra for Rs 6 lakh, but this advanced capability will be introduced in India later.
