New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Toyota Kirloskar Motor has announced a major voluntary recall for three of its premium vehicles in India – the Camry, Vellfire, and Land Cruiser. The company is recalling a total of 4,863 units as a precautionary measure. This step has been taken to investigate and rectify a possible defect in the parking assist electronic control unit (ECU) of the cars. This ECU is a crucial part of the car's 360-degree camera system (panoramic view monitor), which controls the vehicle's rear-view display.

According to the company, these vehicles may have a potential defect in the ECU, which could impact the performance of the 360-degree camera system. However, Toyota clarified that no complaints or accidents related to this issue have been reported in India so far. The company has initiated this recall campaign with safety as its top priority. Authorized Toyota dealers will contact affected car owners directly and they will be invited to a service center for inspection.

Most importantly, the entire process of inspecting affected vehicles and reprogramming the ECU software will be completely free for customers. This service will be available at all authorized Toyota service centers nationwide.
