Transparency Boost: NHAI to Display Monthly and Annual Pass Details at All Toll Plazas
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has taken a major step to enhance transparency regarding the availability of ‘Local Monthly Pass’ and ‘Annual Pass’ at toll plazas. On Friday, NHAI announced that detailed information about these passes will now be displayed at all toll plazas across the country.
In an official statement, NHAI said the decision aims to raise awareness among highway users about the availability, rates, and procedures for obtaining local monthly and annual passes. The information will be displayed on signboards at visible spots such as entry gates, customer service areas, and entry/exit points of every toll plaza. These boards will be available in English, Hindi, and/or local regional languages.
NHAI has directed its regional offices to install these boards at all toll plazas within 30 days and ensure that they remain clearly visible day and night in compliance with toll fee regulations.
Additionally, the details will also be uploaded on the ‘RajmargYatra’ mobile application and on NHAI’s respective project websites. NHAI informed that several discounted pass schemes are available to make travel on highways smoother and more affordable.
Among these, the ‘Local Monthly Pass’ is meant for private vehicle owners living within 20 km of a toll plaza. To avail this pass, applicants need to provide Aadhaar Card, Vehicle Registration Certificate, and proof of residence. After verification, the pass can be obtained at the toll plaza helpdesk.
Similarly, the ‘Annual Pass’ is available only for private vehicles (cars/jeeps/vans) and remains valid for one year or 200 toll crossings, whichever is earlier. The pass can be purchased through the ‘RajmargYatra’ app for a one-time payment of ₹3,000 and is digitally linked to the vehicle’s valid FasTag. This annual pass is valid at around 1,150 toll plazas across all national highways and expressways in India.
