Court complex evacuated: Bomb threat rocks Chandigarh district court

Chandigarh (The Uttam Hindu): Security agencies were put on alert after receiving a bomb threat against the District Court complex in Sector 43. As a precautionary measure, the court complex was immediately evacuated and both main gates were closed. No one is being allowed inside.

Senior police officers, along with bomb squad and other security agencies, arrived at the scene. The entire complex has been sealed off and strict surveillance has been initiated at entry and exit points. A thorough search operation is also underway inside the court.

According to sources, the threat was sent via email to the court's official email address. In the email, the person threatening to blow up the court by detonating a bomb via a drone. Upon receiving information, the SSP's office was informed, following which police teams, including those from Sector 36 and Sector 39 police stations, arrived at the scene. DSP-level officers are also monitoring security arrangements. Police officials say the situation will become clear only after the investigation and search are complete. A heavy police force has been deployed around the court premises for security reasons.
