Next hearing on Bikram Majithia’s bail scheduled for September 29, Punjab government files reply in HC
Chandigarh (The Uttam Hindu): The Punjab and Haryana High Court today heard the anticipatory bail plea of senior Shiromani Akali Dal leader and former minister Bikram Singh Majithia. During the hearing, the Punjab government filed its response, following which the High Court set September 29th for the next hearing. This means Majithia will have to remain in jail for the time being.
Bikram Majithia was arrested by the Vigilance Bureau on June 25th in connection with a disproportionate assets case. Majithia filed this anticipatory bail petition in the High Court in response to another FIR lodged in Amritsar. In this FIR, he is accused of obstructing a Vigilance investigation.
Bikram Majithia had previously applied for bail in the Amritsar District Court but the lower court rejected his plea. He then approached the High Court for relief. All eyes are now on the next hearing, scheduled for September 29th.
