12-Year-Old Dies After Punishment for Coming Late to School on Children’s Day
Mumbai (The Uttam Hindu): A shocking incident from Vasai, Maharashtra has surfaced, where a supposed punishment at school cost a 12-year-old girl her life. The case involves Hanumant Vidya Mandir, where Kajal alias Ashika Gound, a Class 6 student, was reportedly made to do 100 squats for arriving late. Shortly afterward, her health deteriorated, and she died during treatment.
Health Worsened After the Punishment
According to the family, Kajal had her school bag on her back during the squats, causing severe pain in her waist and back. After returning home, her condition worsened. She was first taken to a hospital in Nalasopara and later referred to JJ Hospital in Mumbai due to her critical condition. She passed away during treatment.
Family Questions Teacher and School Authorities
Kajal’s family held the teacher responsible, claiming that the inhumane punishment led to her collapsing. They also accused the school administration of negligence for not providing timely medical help.
The incident has also taken a political turn. The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) has warned that the school will not be allowed to reopen until a criminal case is filed against the teacher. Local residents are also putting pressure on the authorities demanding justice.
