New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The second day of the grand three-day congregation, organised at Delhi’s historic Red Fort complex to commemorate the 350th Martyrdom Day of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji, witnessed devotion, reverence, and profound spiritual fervour at its peak. From early morning, the venue was filled with teary-eyed devotees, folded hands, and unwavering faith towards Guru Sahib. Devotees from across India and abroad continued to arrive in large numbers, eager to be part of today’s spiritually rich and deeply moving programmes.
Pavan Swarup Procession from Gurdwara Sri Shishganj Sahib
The day began with the tradition that has become the very soul of this congregation: the sacred procession carrying Guru Sahib’s Pavan Swarup in a palanquin from the historic Gurdwara Sri Shishganj Sahib to the Red Fort pandal. Thousands of devotees joined this procession amid prayers and hymns. The Pavan Swarup will be ceremoniously taken back to the Gurdwara at night.
Chief Minister and Vice-President Pay Respects: A Sacred Moment at Rakab Ganj Sahib
This morning, Honourable Vice-President Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan and Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta offered prayers at Gurdwara Rakab Ganj Sahib, the site where Guru Sahib’s mortal remains were cremated. Expressing her reverence, the Chief Minister said that Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib’s unparalleled sacrifice for truth and humanity continues to inspire every citizen to walk the path of courage and compassion.
Devotees Drawn to the Historic Museum and Exhibition
The special museum set up at the Red Fort complex remained a major attraction today. The exhibition showcases Guru Sahib’s life from his birth and deep meditation to his travels and martyrdom through paintings, documents and rare historical accounts. Devotees queued from the morning to witness this inspiring journey. Additionally, the audio-visual museum presents the saga of martyrdom through advanced sound and visual technology, leaving visitors deeply moved.
24-Hour Langar Service: A Remarkable Testament to Humanity
The round-the-clock langar continued with its spirit of service and devotion. The dedication and commitment of the volunteers managing the arrangements remained clearly visible throughout the day.
This Evening: Kirtan by Schoolchildren
A key highlight today will be the group kirtan performed by children from all 13 schools under the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee. Thousands of devotees are eagerly looking forward to the soulful hymns rendered by these young raagis, expected to infuse the atmosphere with renewed spiritual energy and sweetness.
Special Light & Sound Show: Bringing History to Life
At dusk, the Red Fort will once again host the special light and sound show, presenting Sikh history and the martyrdom of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji in a grand and deeply evocative manner. A significantly large audience is expected, as the first day’s presentation received overwhelming appreciation.
This Evening: Union Home Minister Amit Shah Expected to Attend
Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah will arrive this evening. He will pay homage to Guru Sahib and may also address the gathering. His presence will further elevate the importance of the event.
Chief Minister’s Appeal and Government’s Preparations
Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta has appealed to the people of Delhi to participate in this historic event and embrace Guru Sahib’s timeless messages of secularism, compassion, tolerance and truth in their daily lives. The Chief Minister is personally overseeing preparations, including temporary auditoriums, security arrangements, route management and langar facilities.
The Delhi Government has declared 25 November a public holiday as a humble tribute to Guru Sahib’s supreme sacrifice, dedicating the day to his eternal message of humanity and righteousness.
