Supreme Court grants bail to Pawan Bishnoi and Jagtar Singh in the Sidhu Moosewala murder case
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The Supreme Court has granted bail to two accused, Pawan Bishnoi and Jagtar Singh, who were named in the high-profile murder case of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala. The court’s decision has once again brought the case into the spotlight. However, no official reaction has yet come from Moosewala’s family regarding the ruling.
The relief has been granted to Pawan Bishnoi and Jagtar Singh, who were accused in the murder case of Punjabi singer Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, popularly known as Sidhu Moosewala. Both accused had been lodged in Gobindgarh Jail in Punjab and had been making legal efforts for a long time to secure bail.
It is noteworthy that on 29 May 2022, unidentified attackers shot Sidhu Moosewala dead in broad daylight in Jawaharke village of Mansa district, Punjab. The shocking incident had shaken the entire country. During the police investigation, Pawan Bishnoi was accused of providing a Bolero vehicle with a Rajasthan registration number to the attackers, while Jagtar Singh was accused of conducting reconnaissance of the singer’s movements.
Earlier, both accused had approached the Punjab and Haryana High Court seeking bail, but their petitions were rejected there. After that, they filed an appeal in the Supreme Court, which, after hearing the matter, ordered their release on bail.
Meanwhile, the hearing in this high-profile case is continuing in a court in Mansa. Statements of several witnesses have already been recorded. The testimony of the singer’s father, Balkaur Singh, is also ongoing in court. The next hearing in the case has been scheduled for March 20, 2026.
