Bihar Elections: JDU Expels 11 Leaders Including 4 Former MLAs Ahead of Polls
Patna (The Uttam Hindu): Ahead of the 2025 Bihar Assembly Elections, the Janata Dal (United) has taken strict disciplinary action by expelling 11 party leaders, including several former ministers and MLAs. The party stated that these leaders were engaged in anti-party activities and were acting against the organization’s ideology.
In an official statement, JDU State President Umesh Singh Kushwaha said, “The conduct of these leaders was found to be against the party’s policies and discipline. Making statements and engaging in activities contrary to the party line during election time is unacceptable.”
Former Ministers and MLAs Among Those Expelled
The list of expelled leaders includes several prominent names:
Former Minister Shailesh Kumar
Former MLC Sanjay Prasad
Former MLA Shyam Bahadur Singh
Former MLC Ranvijay Singh
Former MLA Sudarshan Kumar
Amar Kumar Singh
In addition, Asma Parveen (JDU’s former candidate from Mahua), Lav Kumar, Asha Suman, Divyanshu Bhardwaj, and Vivek Shukla have also been expelled.
Ticket Denial Triggers Rebellion
According to sources, several of these leaders were denied party tickets for the upcoming elections, which led to growing resentment against the leadership. Some of them reportedly decided to contest as independent candidates after being sidelined by the party.
Party’s Strategy to Strengthen Organization Before Elections
Party insiders revealed that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has issued clear instructions that indiscipline will not be tolerated ahead of the elections. The JDU intends to move forward only with those who are loyal to the party’s ideology, leadership, and principles.
Political analysts view this move as part of a “damage control” strategy, aimed at projecting a message of unity within the party before the polls.
