Bomb threats to several Delhi schools trigger panic, search operations underway
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Schools in the national capital Delhi are receiving threats every day. This trend has been going on for several months. Meanwhile, on Saturday, several schools in Delhi were again threatened with bombing. The police took immediate action and evacuated the schools. According to information, several schools in Delhi received bomb threat emails on Saturday morning, after which there was panic. The schools that received the threats include Krishna Model Public School in Najafgarh, Sarvodaya Senior Secondary School in Qutub Minar and DPS School in Dwarka.
Delhi Police and the bomb disposal squad immediately responded to the threat. All affected schools have been evacuated and a thorough search of the premises is underway. No suspicious items have been recovered from any of the schools yet, but police and security agencies are maintaining a high level of vigilance.
This isn't the first time Delhi schools have received such threats. In the past few months, several schools have faced similar threats, which mostly turned out to be hoaxes. In addition to schools, some hospitals and courts in Delhi were also threatened. On September 13th, three Max hospitals in Delhi, located in Shalimar Bagh, Dwarka, and Saket, received bomb threats. An email received by Max Hospital's central office explicitly threatened to bomb the hospital. However, this too turned out to be a hoax.
A day earlier, the Delhi High Court received a threatening email. Apparently addressed to the Delhi Police, the email said, "For example, a blast in your Delhi High Court on Friday will dispel any doubts about previous hoaxes. The blast will take place in the judge's chambers shortly after noon."
The email claimed that three bombs had been planted. The threat was made in the context of Friday prayers. The email also mentioned a political conspiracy, describing plans to target Pakistan's ISI, certain individuals, and political families. After receiving the bomb threat email, the Delhi Police took the matter seriously and evacuated the High Court premises for security reasons. However, the police did not find any suspicious objects during the search. Currently, the Delhi Police and the administration are taking such matters seriously.
